Calculation

First the Average Deviation is calculated:

After this, we can calculate the "Commodity Channel Index" or the "Commodity Channel Index Average". The formulas are represented below:

where:

"n" is the number of chart points used in the calculation of CCI
"n*" is the number of chart points used in SMA when computing CCI Average
"V" = H + L + C
"H" is high, "L" is low, "C" is close
SMA is Simple Moving Average and CCI is "Commodity Channnel Index"

From "Indicator Properties" you can change the settings for indicator:


This dialog has four sections: "CCI", "CCI Average", "Over Bought" and "Over Sold" from where you can set line thickness, color and style for the components of indicator. From "Length" you can change the number of points that are used in the CCI and from "Average Length" the number of points that are used in the CCI Average. From "Over Bought Property" and "Over Sold Property" you can change the level of the Over Bought and Over Sold components. By default this level is 100 respectively -100.
